I accidently deleted this comment. Darn iphone :(
Although it was clearly user error...and it was a comment from one of my favorite people too...grr...and now I don't know how to post it, except to copy/paste it...

So here's the comment:

I love Charity Water, Community Hopechest, and World Vision. The first because water is essential and without that people have little hope. I love the last 2 because of child sponsorship, helping children become leaders by helping to nourish their bodies and souls.

Every year on Christmas, my family decides on two or three charities to support in the upcoming year. Each person (including the kids)presents one charity that they feel strongly about and we all vote. The charity that I presented (I opened by singing the Veggie Tales Silly Songs with Larry Water Buffalo song)was Heifer International. The kids are hoping to save enough money to donate a llama and a water buffalo.

I like the concept of passing on the gift.

We love charity:water - go Team Ethiopia! Lori has done a magnificent job of organizing the fund raising drive for charity:water to put in new wells in ET. We wanted to give something back and what is better then bringing clean, safe water to entire communities?! Community Hopechest. We're sponsoring two beautiful children at Kebebtsehay. Tessa was originally placed there and we wanted to help some of the other amazing children we saw.

I LOVE Heifer.org too! Every year my class "Reads to Feed" and we always end up getting to buy many animals for families. I hope to one day get to go see the gift being passed on through one of their "study tours." It's a realistic means out of poverty and donating one animal to a family continues to help other families in need. GREAT service learning project for kids (school, church, teams, clubs, etc!)
